The exciting news this week from Spun Candy headquarters is that our Covent Garden Kitchen has been shortlisted for an award. Not content with just taking the confectionery world by storm with our array of delicious, innovative candy treats, we are now in the running for a Design Award for Retail Interior 2014 from World Interior News (WIN).
WIN was launched in 2010 and is an online publication that looks to showcase creative interior design projects and products from across the globe. WIN offers expert advice and news from the world of design and, which is where our kitchen comes in, hosts an annual awards to congratulate and reward particularly exciting projects.
We were put forward for the award by Nick Leith-Smith, the architect and friend of Spun who designed the shop’s interior. His ability to craft creative luxury retail design was what drew us to him in the first place, and his bold style and pride in his achievement is what has put us in this fantastic shortlist position.
Receiving such an accolade from such a prestigious online resource provides incredible exposure to the brands that are both nominated and the eventual winners. Every entrant will be presenting a cutting edge product or inspiring project, so to be placed in the same category for the interactive experience we offer is obviously a great honour.
What this does bring is a new dimension to Spun Candy, whereby we are able to present ourselves to a new and before untapped market for bespoke candy. We already know that we can influence the confectionery market to great effect thanks to our outstanding products, and are making great strides with our Corporate Candy marketing. Now we are able to show that Spun Candy’s creativity is not reserved for its sweets and business promotions. Instead it is an ethos that runs throughout the brand, from what we sell to where we sell it.
The distinguished judges for the World Interior News Awards 2014 are sourced from some of the most renowned design and architecture firms in the world, and to have them assess our store will certainly be an incredible experience. At Spun Candy our aspirations are high but we aren’t greedy. To be shortlisted for this award has filled us all with pride, as our kitchen is both a place we love work in and love people to visit. To win would be another incredible acknowledgement to the hard work that we all put into Spun and how far we have come.
Whatever the result we will be pleased with our latest accomplishment. Thank you both to WIN and of course to Nick Leith-Smith; we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed and will be sure to keep you all updated on the result!
