Burt’s Bees are a Health and Beauty Care company, who develop and supply natural products that enhance natural beauty. ‘Care’ really is the truth, too, as they are a business whose philosophy is built around ‘The Greater Good’. That’s care for you, care for themselves and care for the environment; care for everyone and everything. From very humble origins, the founders of Burt’s Bees began life as candle makers, before truly beginning to recognise the value that beeswax could have for healthy looking skin. They soon developed their famous Beeswax Lip Balm and the rest, as they say, is history.
Fast forward to today and the ‘humble’ Burt’s Bees brand is now global, with offices across the world. Their natural ranges have grown in both variety and in stature, but their ethos has remained the same throughout their ascension. They are an incredibly green company who almost unbelievably in this day and age, have met a goal which sees zero waste go to landfill. Their next mission is to even limit their waste energy. But that isn’t all. They also campaign long and hard to educate us on the plight of the honeybee – teaching as many people as possible that caring for honeybee health and habitat is essential for the environment and for our world.
A company like this deserves recognition and for their products to reach as many people as possible – their story must be told, so when it came to their latest range Burt’s Bees Lip Colour, due to be launched in April, they deserved something special. Something that would set them apart, grab people’s attention and keep it. This, much to our own delight and pride, is where Spun Candy came into the picture.
We helped Fluorescent PR design and develop some eye catching ‘Lip’ candy, to be attached to invites that were sent out to leaders in the fashion, beauty and media industries. These delicious treats were a way to create a ‘buzz’ over the upcoming range and to help people fall in love with Burt’s Bees the way that we had.
The response was incredible. Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram were inundated with pictures of people holding up their lips alongside fantastically positive feedback. The social media hype has been growing fast ever since. People love the idea of an edible invite, something that goes beyond what they expect and makes a lasting impression. Delicious, creative and everything that Burt’s Bees values in its own products; our candy is made from natural flavours and natural ingredients. Together we care about what goes in and on your body, which is why Spun and Burt’s Bees have made such an incredible team.
